Westfield Community Pantry

The Westfield Community Pantry

We have teamed up with our Pantry partners Abri Housing & the local Pantry network to provide this valuable Community project.

Each week our members, come to the Community centre and collect their “top up” food. We cannot guarantee what food will be provided each week, as this food is delivered to us from FareShare combined with donations received from our Tesco’s community champion volunteer. You will receive items such as, fruit, vegetables, canned items, chilled items, store cupboard items. All food has a short best before/use by date. This membership will not be a full weekly shop for your household. All members receive the same amount of food regardless of entry time.

We have received funding to deliver this project from – the local pantry network, Somerset District Council and Yeovil Round Table and Hunts Food Group Community Fund via Somerset Community Foundation

Membership costs £3.50 per week. Collection times are 3.15pm until 4.15pm every Friday. On occasion our delivery may be delayed slightly, however we do have a pantry cafe open at collection time’s so members can enjoy a nice cuppa if you are required to wait a short period of time.

Please note we are currently operating a waiting list system and would require any potential member to complete a membership form prior to being added to the waiting list.

You can find our application form to become a member of our pantry here. Please either complete online, save and return via email to stpeterscc@outlook.com or print and return to the community centre. We will confirm receipt at the earliest opportunity and you will be placed on our waiting list. Once a space becomes available you will receive a phone call on the number you provide on your application form. At this point you will be able to let us know if your circumstances have changed and you no longer require the pantry membership, or you will be a confirmed member and will be given a collection start date.

Very Friday we provide a community pantry within the community centre. We have volunteering opportunities within the pantry – this includes, setting up ready for our delivery, welcoming members into the centre, sitting and chatting with our members getting to know them, counting food items, storeroom work, chilled item service, making teas and coffees and a lot more. Timings for volunteering within the pantry are various, however we run every Friday without fail so if you have a few hours please let us know and we are sure we could find something to suit you!  Please get in touch if you think you can help.
